Spark plug question - 1999 Camry Selera SLE. . .

check engine light came on. 44,000 miles, 6 cylinder mechanic read the diagnostic code which said cylinder 5 misfire, he said i needed new plugs.

had a mechanic change them.

check light came on again later. i looked at the new plug ,it was a one electrode platinum. right on the hood of the car there is a sticker there that says dont use one electrode, use two electrode plugs.

could this make a difference ? do you really need a dual electrode plug in this car

thanks

Yeah, use whatever kind of sparkplugs the vehicle calls for. But, you should also know that there is a TSB on your car regarding misfire codes PO300,

301, 302, 303, 304, 305, & 306. The TSB involves replacing one or more ignition coils. Your mechanic should be able to find the service bulletin for you.
