I'm shopping for a 05 or 06 Tacoma extra cab, 4 cyl, under 20,000miles. No specific trim package. Based on the prices I see for theseused trucks, it appears that they dont depreciate rapidly. I may bebetter off just buying a new truck from a dealership as the pricedifference for used 05 or 06 does not appear to be substantial.I've never owned a Toyota before, so I'm turning to this forum for anyopinions on depreciation and buying new vs. used. Thanks!!

Yes, they do hold their value pretty well. Still, if you see a used one youlike, there's no harm offering less and maybe you'll luck into a deal.

They are very dependable 300K miles is not un common. Yes they do hold their value My sister just bought one for her son a 2000 Tacoma 4cyl 100K miles on it $10,000

She got taken NADA lists a 2000 Tacoma 4cy, with 100K, at $6,100 wholesale and $8,000 retail. Notice the spread in wholesale to retail. Generally in that price rage the difference is closer to $1,300, showing dealers are make a bigger markup on uninformed buyers. ;)
