If you are experienced then this test is a good indicator of a short as the type and intensity of the spark will tell you the approximate current draw. If you are unexperienced then this is not a good test as you will usually have a spark when reconnecting after waiting 15 min. or so. This allows the capacitors in the radio and computers time to discharge and some of them will recharge as they are wired to always be on. As another poster suggested, remove the positive cable (remove negative first then reconnect after removing positive) and position a bulb between the positive battery post and the cable. If the bulb lights then you have a short or high current draw somewhere. If it doesn't you could still have a higher than normal draw but you need a current meter (ammeter) to tell for sure. You can use a clamp-on (there are models that capable of giving you an accurate reading on current draws this small) or a direct connect that you will need to connect the same way the bulb would be connected. If you don't know how to do this, take the car back to Autozone and ask them to check system and check for current draw, you should also be able to tell for sure. davidj92
