Back fitting a CD Changer

I have a Japan-built UK-sourced 2000 Camry with a radio/cassette that claims to be a "Toyota 58408". Would like to fit a CD changer. The radio/cassette has appropriate CD changer controls but it may only have been fitted to UK models (?)

Does anyone know whether this particular radio/cassette is made by Panasonic and consequently would work directly with a Panasonic CD Changer (such as CX-DP880)? Are there other alternatives that would work without the need for adaptor leads and also avoid having to go through an FM channel?

Also what is the best place to put the changer? It looks quite bulky.

Thanks,

John

You'll probably have to look for a Toyota changer. The radios are built by different mfg's but generally are specific to the make of the car. Once in a while you luck out and an off-the-rack item works, but it's rare. Best thing to do is to get ahold of customer service at Panasonic (National, depending on where you are) and see if it is possible.

Or, go junkyard diving...
