brake "clack"

When braking from idle speeds, my recently purchased 96 Camry (V6, 55k miles) responds with a single "clack" - not every time but at least once per day - usually from the front , but occasionally from the rear. If it also happens at faster speeds, I don't hear it. The single metal-on-metal sounding clack occurs when the brakes are first tapped. Braking function itself seems to be OK: no warps, no pulls, no squeals, no chirps. Pad replacement had no effect. The dealer assures me that the calipers are OK. Neither of my other Camrys (94 & 03) makes this noise, although they're both

4 cyl and have front-only discs.

Is this normal? Any tips as to what I should ask the mechanic to look for?

Thanks.

This is very normal, get use to it. After few month you will not notice = it, the noise came from the pads moving to take out the play in disc = brakes.

Thanks for your reassurance. I was concerned that maybe I had sticky pistons which needed attention. The "clack" is definitely linked to direction changes. Perhaps it's related to auto-adjust, or a change in the front/rear bias proportions (if such even occurs in reverse - obviously I don't know)?

Neitther, i ts just the fit of the pads in the anchor plate. There is some clearance, or they'd seize.
