So, can anyone furnish enough information to do that (using the little = hidden chrome switch and the ignition key presumably)??
I may be able to help. I had a lot of trouble in my '95 Camry which I = bought used but had the dealer install a "Toyota" remote unlock and = alarm system. Within a year I was having all kinds of electrical = problems and poured a lot of money into the car trying to fix them. = Finally I gave up and decided to look into it myself (somebody told me = years ago that I was an electrical engineer!). =20
The alarm is really a LoJack model AL-514. The module is tucked in = behind the kick panel to the left of your shin. You can remove the = plastic fairly easily by pulling off the mounting nuts. The LoJack unit = has a list of the color coded wires coming out of it. One ("brown" = IIRC) is the horn activation wire. I cut this and installed a little = toggle switch in it. This allows me to completely cut off the horn.
Note that my problem back in December was that the car would not start = sometimes. The dealer sold me a new alternator for $500. It simply = did not fix the problem and in fact, I couldn't even get it started in = his lot! "It tested weak." they said. Well, the real problem was that = the ignition cutoff was being activated. Cycling the LoJack with the = remote button would allow me to start the car. The bottom line was the = wire to the "Valet" switch was broken at the switch itself. = Resoldering it fixed everything. That dealer will never see me again, but I'm not sure any other are = better. That's how they make money.
