Camry airbag light and diagnostic connector question

The airbag light in my 1996 Camry came on after a (non-Toyota) mechanic disconnected the passenger-side airbag to do some work on the A/C. Searching this newsgroup, I found a message from MDT_Tech suggesting code 22 (dash bulb) was set, and explaining how to clear the code by alternatly grounding the TC and AB terminals in the "diagnostic connector in the engine room."

Further Internet searching revealed that these connectors are known as DLC1 (engine compartment) and DLC2 (under the dash).

I can't find these connectors. Can someone tell me what to look for? In the engine compartment, I see a couple fuse boxes, but no connector. Under the steering column I see the OBD-II connector. Where are the DLC connectors?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It may have been refering to the small diagnostic connector on the pre 96 camrys that was under the hood. You have OBDII on yours so there is no way to short connectors anymore. First, did he or you reconnect the airbag connector? Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes? That may clear it.

you still have a connector under the hood. I can't picture exacly where it is now, but I want to say that it is near one of the strut towers. It is a black rectangular box, about 1" by 2", and there is a lid that you have to flip up on it to expose the wire pins. I also wanna say it is marked "diagnostic", "DLC", or something to that effect.

I connected my Actron OBD-II Autoscanner and it reported no codes, so I can't reset it there.

I will try disconnecting the battery; don't know if the tech did that.

Well, I sure can't find it. :8^|

Someone suggested near the wiper motor, but there doesn't seem to be anything in that area.

This is a 1996 Camry station wagon with a V6 engine.

I'll look again.... Thanks for the suggestions.

Stop looking you dont have one.... You have OBDII on that car.. This thread is so old now, I dont remember what the problem was other than you took it somewhere for a repair and now the airbag light is on...Just take it back and have them deal with it.
