Driveline Slop 1993 V6

Hi,

Going on and off the throttle while in hi-gear (automatic) produces a slop similiar to what loose universal joints would feel like on a rear-wheel drive car.

Oddly; there is no such feel when in first or second gear...going on and off the throttle then feels tight and quiet.

Under light throttle...as when slowly gaining speed on a residential street...when the 2-3 shift occurs..it sometimes "bangs" into third... With any greater throttle pressure...its fine.

It's pretty much always been like this...I'm the original owner and it's got

75k on it now.

Is there a fix? or at least a diagnosis?

Thanks, Chuck

Could be a worn engine/trans mounts, worn CV joints, worn tie-rods. Check for torn CV Boots, if torn, the grease leaks out and joints will wear. replace entire axle is torn. check for motor mounts, open hood, have someone inside and monitor engine movement when shifting from R to 1 st and putting slight torque on driveshaft with breaks applied. Do have any loose steering, maybe worn tie rods. Good Luck jim

But Jim...wouldn't those areas of wear affect slop in each gear????

There is no noticeable slop in first or second...only after it's shifted into third.

Could be a problem in the trans. Has the trans been serviced on a regular interval.
