How to find aftermarket drivr door window for Camry 99

Sep 20, 2006 6 Replies

Someone broke into my car though the driver door window.

Now when I try to get a quote only Toyota dealership agrees for the crazy price of ~$400 (part+labor+blah+blah+tax). All aftermarket autoparts companies that I found over the internet don't carry side windows.

Is there a way to find such a window for a more reasonable price (below $200 at least) ?

I am in SF Bay Area.

Call some discount auto glass places in your area. Try some auto wrecking yards...For example I am getting $100-125 for left front door glass for an 04 camry (no tint) via

Ask the part department how much just the glass is --- Few years ago I paid like $85 for the glass. Non OEM brand was only $15 or so less. Its easy to install - any place can do it.

Why have your dealer do any work, they are known to be overpriced, a junkyard might have it for 40$, a glass shop would even be cheaper. any local mechanic can put it in easily

IIRC, Toyota OEMs most of the their auto glass from PPG. It's been a few years, but at one time their website (

) had a locator to find a local shop that used PPG glass. At the time I went that route, it was quite a bit cheaper than dealer pricing.

Unless a junk yard has a damaged door they won't remove and sell you just the glass for a reasonable price -- they want to sell an entire intact door!
