Jack, all Toyotas are going to the 5,000 mile intervals within the next few years, it will be phased in with some 04 models and finally, all in
Let me tell you what I do:
I do the oil change myself every 2 months, no matter what.
You can change the oil yourself, no need to take the car to the dealer or another place, it's very easy.
I do it on Saturday mornings, this way almost all the oil goes to the pane during the night; then, I leave it draining for about 1 hr.
About your question, it depends on the use you give to your car, if you do a lot of stop-go city driving, well, 5,000 seems to many miles to wait for another oil change.
Mine is a 1996 Camry V6.
Probably neither. What does the owner's manual say? Probably 5K ... Both the Totota's we have say 4 months or 5,000 miles. CU's tests suggest that even that is too frequent, but there are questions about how well taxi engines correlate to our "real life" situation.
