Weird electrical problem '97 Camry XLE

Ok, I realize I probably have a shorted wire somewhere, but.... When the trunk is open, the tail lights & license lights are on, when half-way closed, the license lights go out, when all the way closed, the tail lights are off, license lights are on. I was looking at it, had trunk open, feeling for loose connections, then all tail lights went out. Replaced fuse, tail lights worked again, then back up lights not working, and Reverse light on dash stays on no matter what drive you're in. Check engine light, and light burned out light is on. My wife also says the clock is not working. I don't see any other burned out fuses. Any ideas?

Look in the bundle of wires on the trunk hinge. Constant flexing can cause wire to break. davidj92

I was seeing the exact same symptoms on my '97 XLE. The gear select light on the dash showed the wrong gear also. I eventually found a broken wire in the bundle in the trunk-driver side. The constant flexing with the trunk lid must have caused it.

Thanks for the ideas, I'm going to dig into it this w/e.
