Hi all,
What diesel engine will fit a 1995 4Runner? Is this a feasible idea?
Thanks for your insights.

I've considered the same thing, but decided against it. There's way too much electrical work involved, plus changing the gas tank, fuel pump, fuel lines, dash indicator lights, exhaust, .....I'm probably forgetting a bunch. Consider purchasing the Toy diesel in Canada and driving to the states. I'm told the taxes are reasonable.
Wonder why they don't sell the diesel Toyotas in the USA? There would have to be a good market for them. I would like to have one. Especially one of those Diesel Land Rovers.

Why bother with all the modification. Buy a 2005 Liberty Jeep with a
2.5L I5 Benz diesel. A well proven engine and tranny. This engine has been used on Fedex delivery van. Smooth, quite, efficient, and plenty of low end torque.Hope Toy will put a commonrail diesel on their line up soon. It's ony
1.5 yrs away from the new diesel fuel standard to be effective.

It may be nice now, but in 3 years when the Chrysler ignition system, transmission and interior start falling apart, it will be junk with no resale value. NEVER, NEVER again will I own a Chrysler product.
According to a salesman at the local dealership here in Amarillo, a diesel is in the works right now. It will be turbo or supercharged and will be electronically controlled. Nothing like the small diesels that were offered in the early 1980's. A lot more power and much cleaner burning. I hope his information is correct.
The whole engine and transmision is imported from Daimler Benz. Believe the recommended oil change interval is 15000 miles.
