Land Cruiser Loud Fan On Engine

I have a 97 Toyota Land Cruiser, 6cyl 4.5 liter with about 89k miles, not the anniversary edition.

There appears to be somewhat of a whine coming from the cooling fan.

Is it possible that the fan could be faulty? Or could it be something else besides the fan?

The noise increases with an increase in RPMs.

Might want to check the tensioner pulley. Loosen and remove the fan belt and feel the pulley for play or a gritty feeling while spinning it by hand. See if the fan has any wobble to it.
