You'll get varying answers, and there are a lot of factors geographically and otherwise.
But for me personally, the truck has averaged over 50k miles for two years (avg is, what, 15k?).
I'm not starting to talk with the dealer above $12,000.
I'd prefer something with lower mileage for that price is what I'm saying. (and yes, I know the truck is loaded).
I'd want a CarFax pulled on it before I signed on the line (even if I had to pay for it myself), and I'd want a vehicle warranty history pulled on it as well by the dealer (showing any work done under warranty). I'd also want any service paperwork if available, and maybe even the previous owner's contact if I could. Lastly, I'd want an objective mechanic (assuming you aren't a wrench) to have a good general look at it (and I'd pay him to do so).
I'm not exactly sure what Strew is talking about in the first part of his message (is he tlaking about a vehicle he's looking at or one he has?), but the last paragraph is very good advice. For information on what a bank is willing to pay out to finance (i.e. actual value) they use
