Tacoma Brake Upgrades

Greetings All,

I have 2001 S-Runner. The stock brakes really suck! I've searched the newsgroup and couldn't find any threads about brake upgrades for the Tacoma. I'm sure this topic has popped up many times before so please accept my apologies for rehashing this subject. Has anyone found any good brake upgrade components for Tacoma 2WD? Info is much appreciated.

Many Thanks Dave_SoCal Sometimes you have to slow down to go fast.

Hey Dave,

I was hoping to see someone jump in on this for you as I am also interested in increasing my braking ability. I have a'02 V6 doublecab prerunner that I use to tow a 19' travel trailer with electric brakes, but it could still use a little help. I installed cross-drilled and slotted front rotors with the new carbon/kevlar pads. It has helped a bunch over stock, but now the front pads squeal in the stop & go commute traffic of SF Bay Area...but they don't fade on downhill grades with the trailer!

I ordered my stuff through

I've got an S-Runner too, and I'm using Performance Friction's carbon metallic pads. They're the best upgrade I know of for the money. They come with a lifetime warranty for less than $40, and Auto Zone sells them.

I installed my first "free" set of PF pads this morning on my truck. The original PF pads that I paid for wore out, and these replacement pads were handed to me with no questions asked when I went back Auto Zone.

i'll chime in,

Raybestos (or the like) replacement rotors, have them checked for balance and trueness. then send them out to be cryo-gen'd.

if you abuse your rotors, you need to step into cross drilled rotors, but still get them cryo-gen'd. use oem pads or better (if proven better).
