Just acquired a 68' Westy. Restored body and paint, rebuit engine and many other upgrades. Of course, as one would expect, the heater smells like exhaust. As I am not going to drive the vehicle in the colder months, I really don't need the heat, so I don't want to spend the money to replace the heater boxes...., at least not at this time. Is there any problem with disconnecting the heater tubes right where they come off the fan shroud and head down through the compartment floor to the heat exchanger? I have been told that doing this could cause the engine to overheat. Don't want to burn up an engine with
