Is there any benefits to a 'larger' size battery in a Bug, assuming it fits under the seat? Not just the physical size, but cranking amps, etc.

One potential disadvantage is the old one where a taller battery may have its terminals contact seat springs when somebody of a generous weight sits on seat. Usually causes a rapid evacuation of car when smoke/sparks starts pouring out from under ones backside. A colleague always kept a slab of beer in the "tray" behind the back seat for that emergency use. Lead acid batteries dont have the same "memory" effects that Nicads have so there shouldnt be any reduction in battery life because its not exercising the full capacity of the battery. Wont overstress any other components, makes starting easier, will crank longer . No , put the lager, sorry larger battery in!. Cheers John
