driving a bug

88mm slip in cylinders, big cam, high compression ratio, centermounted 40mm Dellorto, 009 distributor, some cheap header exhaust. Tuned by an old race guru.

You may push your luck too far if you tried 115. I don't think I will again, without some serious suspension mods and probably a roll cage. But hey, I was young and dumb :)

BTW I don't think the car could have done it twice. It was a short lived , high revving engine. And I beat the snot out of it :D

No, it didn't. They did in Europe and the rest of the world. Only Supers came with IRS.

This was 185KPH, which equals 115MPH.

I never said the engine was stock... the suspension and brakes were.

That's hardly a "standard" 1974 Beetle. :)

Uhh, it's a "Standard" as opposed to a "Super Beetle".

AH HA I thought it was not a "stock" Beetle!

I used to do some amazing things with my 1967 Beetle Conv, but I never pushed it that fast. ;-)

Have a happy and SAFE holiday!

I have one of those big old thick tips and tricks soft cover books about old aircooled VWs around here somewhere.I forget the title and the author of that book.I am not neat and tidy and organized. It would take me a while to find that book. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, y'all. cuhulin
