Gas Heater 6v in 12v vehicle

What has to be done to put a 6v gas heater in a 12v vehicle --- can I just use resistors to drop the voltage to 6 v? Assume I would need to handle voltage to the fuel pump, fan and igniter system. Can a Facet electonic pump be used instead of the one supplied with the heater? Seems to be many more 6v BN2 heaters (and others) over the 12v heaters. Is the BA6 in the

411/412 too complicated to consider moving it to a VW pan based Porsche Speedster kit car? I assume the BN6 is just too much heater for the small space it needs to heat --- unless you're real far North.

The BA6 would be way too huge.

There is a simplified diagram of the BN2 on my web site. The 12V models use a 6V glow plug (there is no spark) with a big resistor in series, so I assume you could the same. The fan motor is a smaller load; a solid-state voltage reg might be the answer. If you have the newer solenoid-type fuel pump, it should work well with a resistor.

No, you can't sub any old fuel pump; the heater requires a very precise injection quantity.

the soution is very simple. Wire the fan and igniter in SERIES (instead of ||), and it will work fine on 12V. BTDT. Take the ground from the fan, and run it to the input of the igniter. Since each device draws around the same current, you'll get 6V across each. I have done this for years.
