motor maintenance, adjustment part two

1500cc /68 manual shift

today I have installed a new carb. 31 pict 3. set the valve clearance at 0.15mm checked static timing;

problem: if I run the car it feels a little "shaky" espescially in the lower revs, and if I have to stop at the trafic light, the motor sometimes dies on me. Just hit the gaspedal just a little and it picks up right away. I have cranked up the idle but I rather don't do this (1100rpm...) What can be the reason? O jeah, I hooked up the vacuum hose on one of the copper tubes at the front of the carb. (on my old carb it was hooked on the left side). The advance in the distributor listens and reacts OK. On the pulley there are two marks. One notch and then a little to the right two notches? I have set the static timing on the first notch, is that correct to?

thanks for the help!

Franky

The vacuum line must be connected to the left side of the carb.

Please post the P/N of your distributor.

strange there is nothing written on the distributor, but is the stock distributor with vacuum advance.

"Front" side, you mean facing the rear of the car. Those tubes were used for an emission control device.

If I recall, that year uses very low vacuum to operate the advance. You will be better off using the left-side port. Plug any remaining open ports.

If it is the stock distrib, set >
