No..

Saves you from getting the car going again with the starter. Starter lives longer.

haha. I love getting off the lines. Anyways, why would you come to a stop at a light and turn off the car if you want to save the ignition? Im confuzzled. ~Peace~Justin

Because you don't have a clutch. Have you been reading the thread? You have to either keep it in neutral if you want to keep engine running, or plow through red lights if you want to keep it in gear. If you do put it in neutral while sitting at red lights, you can't get it in gear again unless you turn off the engine. Simple. Therefore, put it in neutral and turn engine off, then put it in first, and be ready to start the engine when the light turns green.

Not just for clutchless driving, this is also useful when you get in on a plane at 3am from a 12 hour flight, and your master cylinder tosses it's cookies. ;)

Had 35+ miles to get home, just barely enough pressure in the hand brake to stop the car after fully winding it down to 1st.

At any rate, I've had a spare clutch cable in my car since day one, hopefully I never occasion to need to drive with a snapped line because I've got such a poor sense of timing/pitch rev matching is damn near impossible.
