Since it's up on the rack anyway . . .

Next week I'm taking the Wonderbus to a shop that some Vanagon fellows here in town have recommended as a good place to get some VW servicing: Brad's Foreign Auto in Encinitas, CA (If you have some knowledge about these guys pro or con, please advise). I know I should be doing everything myself -- and I am doing my oil changes and valve adjusting routinely -- but I just don't have the time I had last summer for auto work.

Anyway, the brakes are doing a little squealing while driving -- not so much while braking, just a kind of "wee-wee-wee" while driving -- and a quick tap on the brake pedal usually shuts it up. So I'll have them eyeball and routine-maint the brakes.

I reckon I'll have them bleed the brake lines, check the wheel bearings, speedo cable is making noise, figure it's due for replacing, um . . . change the GL4 in the tranny.

What else should I ask them to look at while they are there?

I'd repack and adjust the wheel bearings, myself.
