Something *clunked*, now it shifts better

Jul 17, 2003 1 Replies

When I got the 74 SB, 4th gear was somewhere out the passenger window. I cured it by replacing all the replaceable parts from the front to the transmission. Shifting got very thick (like molasses), and I assumed normal. On the way home, backing out, something gave a thud from the rear, and now the shifting is a *lot* looser, but extremely precise. Normal I assume this time(?).

Any idea what happened? Thanks for the help. mck
