Using Kadrons with Vacuum Distrib.

Okay, so I'm looking at AJ Sims web site/catalog and he says Kadrons are happiest with vacuum advance, not 009/050 distribs. So I look at the Kadrons, and hey - no vacuum tube???

So Sims has this deal where he'll tap the Kadrons for a vacuum tube, but he seems to tell how to do anything to a Kadron on his pages except this mod.

Now, I'm overseas, and I drive my van every day, so I'm not about to send him my carbs. for tapping, so where can I get instructions for drilling the things myself?

BTW, I'm playing around with the vacuum advance can off an old distr. with no mechanical advance but lots of vacuum advance, and I'm thinking to put it on to a slightly newer distr. with mech. advance instead of the more conservative one that is there.

Anyone ever done something like this and/or have any thoughts or suggestions on it? I'm probably just doing it because I've got a few old distributors laying arouund and have too much spare time on my hands.

.....................If you start running out of spare time and don't mind the expense, you can get a brand new SVDA distributor that has an advance curve that's specifically for dual Kadrons at

. Also, I'd expect that John Connolly could help you with the proper place to tap them for the vacuum ports, jetting, etc.

BTW.........They do ship overseas.

Got some time - don't got money - got lotsa spare parts - got Kadrons already years ago. Got an 050 distributor but I miss the vacuum.

Anybody can just go out and buy new stuff - what fun is that?

Don't happen to know what the "advance curves" are for Kadrons on a more or less stock 1600 for a van fulla tools, junk, camping and sports equipment are, d'y'all?

By the time I get finished buggering around with the centrifugal weights/stops/springs, and vacuum stops on this one, I'd expect it'll have a performance potential similar to the Mallory unit listed below the SVDA in the aircooled catalog - the one they don't even show a price for. Shit - I only paid about S$60 for my 050 a few years back

- that was about US$30 at the time. And no - it's not for sale.

Who's John Connolly?

the price for every item in our catalog IS there if you look closer instead of rushing to criticize.

On some products you have to view the options to actually see how much they are.

You're up late. It's only lunch time for me here.

So can you tell me where to punch a hole in one of them Kadrons, or can I just take a pipe off one of the manifolds where the crossover tube goes in?

I suppose I could just take my cue from whereever on the carb. body the air tube is drilled into one of the single Solexes I have sitting here, making sure I don't drill into something critical, huh?

I did look thru your technical articles to see if you had something on this, but I didn't find anything there.
