We need a mechanic in ....

I think just about everyone here is interested in restoration work. So he would probably be more likely to find a much older woman who's fun to have around, and then have work done until she looked pleasing again.

WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO THANK YOU !!!! WIth the info you sent I believe we will try to figure things out aggain instead of finding a mechanic at this point... THANK YOU THANK YOU !!!!!!!!

Could someone tell me how to tell if the car is a 12 volt or a 6 volt?? I bought a wiper motor that said it was a 12 volt but it don't look like the one that is in already....the new one has less wires to hook up then the old one..... Hope that helps

My daughter and I was trying to figure this out together as I would love to be able to help her and plan on getting a vw van in the future so think this would be helpful on both our parts ...........It would be great to be able to haul my Rotties and Mastiff with me when I go on road trips.....

I just bought some myself. Radio Shack used to carry them. They have long since discontinued them, along with 4" paper-cone speakers.

I picked mine up from Advanced Auto. They are another nationwide chain. They call them "European Fuses". It's a small tin of about 5 fuses, all of which will be 8 AMP for under the dash. Should look just like what you are replacing, only a little 'whiter' and fresher. :-)

Also, you might be able to tell quickly if you have a 12 Volt vehicle by looking inside the drivers side door where the hinge sits. If there is a

12V lightning bolt sticker, it's 12V!! If not, perhaps the sticker came off and was not replaced, or you have a 6V. I'm sure there is a more technical approach like say 'year of the vehicle'. But we recently had a discussion on those 12V stickers so I thought I would bring it up.

Good luck to you and your daughter.

....just because the wiper motor is twelve volt does not mean it is correct. There are 3 or 4 12 volt wiper motors, dependant on year. Any car made after 1966 will be 12 volt, unless it was made for some weird third world country such as Finland. =-)))) If your wiper motor has a different number of wires, the best bet would be to return the replacement motor and get the proper one. The one you have *may* be usable...but its always better to use the correct part when possible.
