weak wires

A rewire may not be necessary, unless the harness has been butchered, or the insulation is brittle and cracked or overheated, or if the connecters are all corroded and dirty. Dirty connections can make lights dim, or starters not want to work. Especially grounds. Take a weekend and clean all the connections on the fuse box and all the connections on the lights and see if that makes a diifference for a while before rewiring.

I have seen wires that have been overheated from too much current draw and it has made the insulation melt... especially in the stater circuit. The insulation either melts off or gets brittle and cracks, then the wire corrodes and it causes a voltage drop.

I am getting ready to do a complete rewire on my '66... but thats because the car was under 4 feet of salt water and the ends of the wires are green and the connectors are falling off. I think I will put up a page on how I do it... well, thats when I get the parts which should be delivered next week.
