The trans just doesn't want to get out of 1st when you first start off in the mourning. It eventually get there and is fine for the rest of the day (after about 10 mins) .
Any course of action other than a rebuild?
Do I do a service?

How's the fluid level? I would try a fluid flush first, if that doesn't work see if you can find the more reliable AW71 transmission to install in it's place. You'll need the coolant lines, shifter assembly and the front half of the driveshaft to go with it.
