'85 240 Overdrive Solenoid

Does anyone have any recommendations whether or not to buy a used overdrive solenoid from a junk yard? Can they really go bad if they are still attached to a transmission sitting out in a yard??

Any input would be appreciated!!

So long as they're not physically damaged they rarely fail, I wouldn't hesitate to get one from a junkyard.
