I started to assemble my 89 volvo 240 engine it is a b230 non turbo.
I took the rods with the pistons into the shop and had new wrist pin bushings fitted, and he resized the rods.
He gave them back disassembled.
The pistons have an arrow that faces the front of the engine so that is easy.
The connecting rods have the cylinder number (1-4) stamped into one side of the con rod and the cap.
on the opposite side of the number is a letter P
I think The "P" was on the drivers side of the engine, and the number (1 to 4) stamps on the passenger side. what is P? (might mean something is swedish?)
I want to be sure I have this right, would anyone know for sure?
I don't want to go ahead till I can verify, getting them bass ackwards might be a bad thing.. ...
