The Vehicle Identification Number - VIN derivative (1) for 3100 LG8 and 3400 LA1 is stamped or laser etched on the left side rear of the engine block. The Vehicle Identification Number - VIN derivative is nine digits long and can be used to determine if a vehicle contains the original engine.
a.. The first digit identifies the division. b.. The second digit identifies the model year. c.. The third digit identifies the assembly plant. d.. The fourth through ninth digits are the last six digits of the Vehicle Identification Number - VIN. I don't know how easy it is to find or see the serial number, but that is apparently where it's located.
