I got glass in my @$$

pardon the border line vulgarity, just following orders...LOL

Look at the last 6 pics. I didn't want to make the glass guy travel twice to my house, so I did the first step in order to get my headliner job finished:

In case anyone is considering DIY glass...

I was going to install the new glass myself, then read about how important it is for the glass to be mounted 100% right. The glass supports the framework as a safety issue, so I will let the pros handle it.

But, to save money here is what I did:

Ordered the windshield from

-- $90 and I pick it up at a local warehouse.

Called the local shop and got a quote of $75 to install it. I bring the glass and car to their shop.

Total price: $165 (This is not an insurance claim, rather, out of pocket)

I learned a new game tonight - and it only requires 1 person and a Volvo. First you remove the windshield, then shout "NOT FUN!"

Then the next day when you buy a shop vacuum and suck up all the glass, shout "NOT FUN!"

Then, after you sit in the seat to vacuum the dash and a shard of glass sticks you in the butt, shout "NOT FUN!"

Then, after THREE HOURS of scrubbing your fingers to the bone with noxious chemicals removing the butyl strip that is basically TAR, shout "NOT F#$KING FUN!!!!!!"

Then, after it's all done and you take pictures and have a beer, whisper, "well, it was kind of fun."

I can relate.

Hey, back when I drank, I used to say "Working on Volvos keeps me out of the bars."

My current vice is gambling: now I say "Working on Volvos keeps me out of the casinos."

Wicked world.

And that's what it's like to win! Thank god for the healing effects of beer and time.

Amen! Nothing like a Guinness when a guy wants a good light beer.

Here's the shot. I can't wait to get all the mechanical stuff done so I can have the top surfaces painted.
