On a 240 is there a quick way to identify if the car is fitted with a limited slip differential, other than mechanically seeing if the diff locks or not?

If installed, there should be a metal tag on one of the bolts that hold the diff cover on noting the need for special oil. The easy way is to jack up one rear wheel with the car in neutral, handbrake off, front wheels blocked (for safety). Try to spin the raised wheel. If it spins, you have the open diff. If it won't turn, you have a limited slip.
