88 Fox Cold Start Plug.

Dec 07, 2004 3 Replies

I've just been quoted $425.00 for a cold start plug. I think its a Bosch. Are there any cheap aftermarket replacements? The car is only worth - tops- $500, but still gets me around just fine.

Thanks

Also your local junk yard is a good source.

Are you sure the one you have is broken? If the thermo-time switch is bad, the cold start injector will never turn on.

Are you sure that $425.00 is for the Cold Start Valve? Sounds like that price is for a rebuilt fuel distributor.

I am such a geek. I have their dang catalog sitting on my desk next to my "Sendmail 4th Edition" book. Lunch-time reading.

On a lighter note, though the car is only worth maybe 500 bucks, if it gets you around you can't put a $ value on it. Its priceless compared to a brand new car with a huge 400-600/mo car note, yikes!

I have an 89 Jetta thats the same way. Here and there I drop some money on it, sometimes a CHUNK, but it sure beats a car note! Heck - its only worth about $1000 bucks but it runs and its paid for.

I can't attach a $ value to it. Its my baby. You may be different, who knows. Anyway, don't get too down when you have to dump a chunk into the car. Divide that chunk by 12 and I bet it comes out to less than a car note!
