97 Passat Cruise Control

Any tips on tracking down why my 97 Passat Cruise Control no longer works? How does noe disconnect the swith that the returning clutch pedal hits?

There are vacuum and electrical switches on both the clutch and brake pedals, under the dash. You can remove the knee bolster for easier access. Remove the electrical connector and jumper with a wire to see if it is a bad switch.
