99 jetta 2.0 won't stay running

May 27, 2006 2 Replies

I have a 99 jetta 2.0 AEG. Car was doing great. Went on vacation, returned to find dead battery. Thought must have left a light on, etc. Charged the battery and tried to start. Car will start initially, but in seconds runs very rough, misfires, and then dies. Got code 1543: Throttle Actuation Potentiometer signal too low. Anyone have a similar problem or know how to test the potentiometer? Thanks.
