A4 pedal low when engine running

Jun 04, 2004 2 Replies

I just replaced the rear brakes (calipers & pads). Bled the brake system at all 4 wheels. The brakes are nice and firm until the car is started. There is quite a bit of travel in the pedal before the brakes engage. Do the brakes need to be bled with the car running? Is there some adjustment that needs to be made manually somewhere? Any pointers would be very much appreciated.

Why did you need calipers? And if the rotors are worn a bit uneven it will take a few 100 miles to everything to wear in.

Any car with power brakes (which is pretty much all of them) has a higher and firmer pedal when the car is not running.
