Best Way To Clean Windshields

Hello All VW Owners,

I got a 03 Passat GLX and I want to clean the windshield, especially inside, what would be my options ?

Anyone has a clean and simple way to do it ?

Thanks, MC

Glass cleaner?

I suggest using clean cotton rags for drying. Many paper towels have just a little wax/oil in them that leaves streaks.

If you have some thing especially stubborn, try some BonAmi in the yellow can (the stuff in the easy to find gold can can damage the glass.

I also like using water with just a drop of dish detergent in it. It is really good at getting rid of those last streaks.

Make sure you pass this info on to Don Cavaloni (a couple of posts up), sounds like he could use it.

True. I tried this once after reading it somewhere and it works great. I use the Washington Post (usually after I read it!). Works even better than paper towels, which work pretty well.

I prefer to use lots of soap and a razor blade held at a flat angle to cut off all of the crap. Finish with a good squeege. I like Rain-X; after learning how to put it on, sparingly works best. Subsequent cleanings with soapy solution and squeege work well until you need to repeat this cycle. (I know, not everyone likes Rain-X) Dave '84 GLi
