Coolant smell

One more thing I thought of there seems to be a coolant smell when I run the hot air. Does this mean a bunk heater core? The car (92 Cabriolet Karmann) also seems to run a bit hot. I don't have a bentley for it yet but should be getting one in a week or so. If you know of any checks I can do please let me know.

Thanks,

-Andrew

Don't know that car, but it could also be a heater hose leak? Check the engine compartment for leaks first. May as well look for easier things first ;)

Darn good chance the heater core is leaking. Do the windows fog up with the heat on, particularly on cold days? I recently replaced the leaking heater core in my '92 Golf. The job was fiddly and time consuming but not particularly difficult. Contrary to the Bentley manual, it is not necessary to remove the entire dash, just the center console, heater controls, and air ducts in front of the heater box. (Of course this may not apply to the Cabriolet).
