Engine Stuttering........

Trying to find some useful information about a problem my '95 Golf Sport has had for about it's whole life.....

When it's raining out or after it has rained, anytime of the year, my motor will just not run well until it's warm -- at which time it you wouldn't know there was a problem at all. It bucks, skips and runs rough to the point it's dangerous to pull out in traffic. When I do get it going and I ease into the throttle it's like there is a rapid fire skip, so I've found the only way to stop it is to basically floor it to almost blow through the problem. Over the years the dealer has changed the plugs, wires (twice), and I think the distributor once. I basically decided to forget about the dealer solving this and live with it but yesterday it did it again severely.

Anyone have any ideas?? A friend suggested maybe some silicone sealant on the wires or maybe distributor ?

Thanks in advance.............
