Pull the handle out throw that away, Use the car key push in point down and push, mine broke as well. £10 new from VW. You have to break the clips on the lock device and put it in the new one the right way, you only get one chance as the dealer told me luckily i got it right first time. Ask them to show you to make sure you know what your doing.
