Ok did't get much response to the question about my 81 volkswagon convertable rabbit's fuel mixing with the oil. Is the engine toast because of it and were should i start. Someone told me oxygen sensor, I don't know alot about vw engines and because of being female i don't want to be taking advantage of by a mechanic i can change my own stuff if i know were to start.

A compression and leak-down test would be a good place to start.
I would follow Madesio's idea. GO to Ebay and order a used Bentley. Thos old manuals have so many pages of how and why things work that are as good as anything you will get attenting an automotive trade school class. Well maybe not but the old manuals really do a good job of explaing how things work and how to test. After doing the compression and leakdown testing you would do the injector drip and flow test.
