Hey all..
Well, the background. 1996 2.0 GTI 8V. Engine code ADY, Simos ECU. Well, as you can tell from the message title, poor little blighter won't start and has no spark. I've replaced the engine speed sensor, but alas no joy. There's no HT side volts, and the 12V is present at the coil and the distibutor hall sender. Ground connections are fine. Engine turns over fine, but just won't fire.
Any ideas?

Check if the hall sensor is pulsing. Turn ignition on and measure signal output with dmm while turning the crank by hand/tool. It should sweep between ca. +12v and zero. Doesn't it also has a cam sensor?

Change the coil. It fails around that age. (got the same car, changed the coil 2 years ago when it would no start)
