I know older golf GT's were diesels. if there are newer GT's, I'm not sure of.

The Jetta GT was offered from about 1996-1998. It had several GLX features, such as an upgraded stereo, different seats, smoked taillights, fog lamps, alloy wheels, and a spoiler.

The GT is real and not a rebadge. It's basically a GL with some of the sporty GLX features.
