Oh yeah, that's for sure. The 16Vs have something like 10:1 compression. I dunno why the 1.8 is listed as an interference engine, I thought they were all free running, but I'd be willing to bet the 1.8T with its sexy five valve heads will crash and burn. No, I'm not going to try it :) I also am not sure about the 2.0s... I know the 2.0 16V is interference but I thought the 2.0 8V was not... I could be wrong...
summary: any way you look at it, busted timing belts suck.
