I have a 85 GTI with a 1.8L ,5 speed, stock engine with a terrible idle problem. As soon as the engine begins to warm up, the idle goes to 3500 rpm and stays there. I think it might be the cold start circuit but how do I check this. No one around here wants to try and solve my problem because the car cannot be "just hooked up" to a computer. Real mechanics are getting scarce. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
