95 Suburban "service engine soon light" ???

The service engine soon light comes on and stays on after 3-4 miles of start up. The vehicle has 134k but is well maintained and runs great. What do you think the problem is? Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks in
advance.

Per sorite99:

There are probably many causes, but when it happened to me it was the crank sensor on the way out. Took another 40 minutes or so before the engine died.
Find somebody with a gadget that can read codes from the car's 'puter and you'll know more.
