Why no-one makes a midsized Commercial Van for the tradesmen??

In the rest of the Americas and the world are many midsized economical diesel midsized vans of all shapes and sizes.

For example the Toyota Ace. or the Nissan. But in USA and Canada, only the fullsized versions are on the market. Too bad the areostar and the safari are no longer available. The 1994 roomy Cargo Grande Caravan, abiet less headroom but very economical, also mothballed.

Now is a vaccuum. With the high fuel prices and the Carbon crisis: What gives??

Seems to me that there is opportunity here, and wonder who will fill the void.

I realize it's a bit larger, but have you considered the Dodge Sprinter? For comparison: Grand Caravan 121" Wheelbase 202" Overall Sprinter Standard 144" Wheelbase 232" Overall Sprinter Extended 170" Wheelbase 273" Overall Sprinter Extended + 170" Wheelbase 289" Overall The Sprinter will give you all the headroom you need, plus everything you don't want in a Grand Caravan. In addition, instead of the gas engines, you get a 3.0 liter turbo diesel as standard in all configurations.

alternative would be to purchase a Grand Caravan SE with nooptions, and remove the interior items and rebuild it to fit yourneeds. You might also re-install the interior at trade in time.

None of the manufacturers will make anything like the A series Dodge,Ford econoline vans and Chevy had one also ,you know the stripped down models that could be fitted like you wanted. I was just thinking recently about the days when you could buy a no frills like no P/S P/B A/C with rubber mats and dog dish hubcaps and even in the late 60s they could be had new for around $2500 and what can you buy for that today...a hoopty

Exactly the Sprinter is too large to deliver small orders.

So upsetting, that the manufactureres follow the pissit piper, like the lemmings, crying with the CEO bonus all the same for the Government handouts.

What the meaning is like just look at what is in England, which is a tiny country with big clout. Just LOOK!, its ridiculos.
