2005 Dodge Computer Codes

Does anyone know of a source to decode the c-codes for a 2005 Dodge 1500 Quad Cab, 5.7 lt Hemi, 4x4? I use the following procedure and the instrument cluster gives me two digit codes:

  1. Open driver door and leave open
  2. Press and hold the Odometer/Trip Odometer select button next to odometer in instrument panel.
  3. Insert Key in ignition and turn to the on position but do not start.
  4. All warning light inidcators in dash illuminate, and Tachometer and Speedometer both move up by 1 on Tach and by 10's on Speedo.
  5. Tach and Speedo count down, and then mileage window shows something like following c-codes one second pause 00 00 one second pause 67 81 one second pause 00 00 one second pause reverts to display of odometer milage on truck I have had different numbers in two digit codes show up and I just would like to know what they mean. My local dealership maintenance shop here is for both Chrysler and Ford products. I have talked to many people that have had problems with this shop due to fraudulent, incorrect, or incomplete maintenance. Its the largest dealership in town and pretty much has the vehicle market locked-up. It costs .00 just to have them pull the codes stored by my truck. This will also give me a cross reference to verify the info I get from the dealership. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Go by your local Auto Zone parts store, they will read the codes for you for free. I think Schucks will do it also. TR

Your doing a dash gage test. Not a code call..

A simple rapid on off 3 times will start the code call.code list...

The cluster codes are of the format 'xx yy', meaning code 'xx' occurred 'yy' key cycles ago. In your particular case, code 67 means "All door unlock output circuit shorted to ground or voltage." If you're interested, here's a complete list:

01 Airbag warning indicator output circuit shorted. 02 Airbag warning indicator output circuit open. 03 ABS indicator output circuit shorted. 04 ABS indicator output circuit open. 05 MIL indicator output circuit shorted. 06 MIL indicator output circuit open. 07 Wait to start indicator circuit shorted. 08 Wait to start indicator circuit open. 0B BTSI output circuit shorted or open. 22 Headlamp switch input circuit shorted. 23 Headlamp switch input circuit open. 24 Turn hazard switch input circuit shorted. 25 Turn hazard swiitch inpot circuit open. 27 Courtesy/dome output circuit shorted or open. 28 Glovebox/map lamp output circuit shorted or open. 29 Cargo lamp output circuit shorted or open. 40 Wiper switch input circuit shorted. 41 Wiper switch input circuit open. 42 Wash/beam input circuit shorted. 60 Passenger door lock switch input circuit shorted. 61 Passenger door lock switch input circuit open. 62 Passenger door lock switch input circuit stuck. 63 Driver door lock switch input circuit shorted. 64 Driver door lock switch input circuit open. 65 Driver door lock switch input circuit stuck. 66 All door lock output circuit shorted to ground or voltage. 67 All door unlock output circuit shorted to ground or voltage. 68 Driver door unlock output circuit shorted to ground or voltage. 6C Driver cylinder lock switch input circuit shorted. 6E Driver cylinder lock switch input circuit stuck. 80 Incorrect odometer value found. 81 Remote radio switch input circuit high. 82 Remote radio switch stuck. A0 Internal module FLASH memory checksum failure. A1 Internal module bootloader failure. A3 Battery voltage open. A5 TCCM messages not received. A7 VIN checksum error. A8 VIN previously stored. A9 PCI bus internal failure. AA PCM messages not received. AB TCM messages not received. AC ABS messages not received. AD FCM messages not received. AE ACM messages not received. AF SKIM messages not received. B0 RKE fob batteries low. B1 RKE module communication link. 00 Done All Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) have been displayed.

Note that these codes only refer to functions controlled by the instrument cluster (which is quite a bit in the 3rd gen Rams... the instrument cluster incorporates the airbag system, central timer system, keyless entry system, etc.)

For engine/powertrain diagnostic information, as another poster mentioned, cycle the ignition key from OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON. Your odometer will display any stored OBD-II codes, ending with 'pDone'.

(Autozone, or any other 'free codes read' place, will only read the OBD-II codes, not the cluster codes)
