1985 ford tempo...... won't stay started please help

It all started when this man fixed my fuel injector I wanted him to fix the brakes. My sister recommended him to me because he fixed her brakes for $20 so we went to his house but then he said ok let me drive your car and see how it does so when he started it he said... which we knew... that it was idled up real high he said if we don't get it fixed it will throw a rod there is oil all over your motor he said let me clean out your motor and put new hoses and fix your fuel injector he said it will cost about $60 so we figured it was ok that afternoon he calls and says you need a new brake booster.... oh my goodness! so we went to auto zone and bought the brake booster which was really expensive! and brought it to him then the next day he calls and says that its ready all and all it cost us $340 !

and so we got it home and the next day it was running bad and dying on the road. it died on me going to the grocery store and i though it never did that before. Then day after day it started to get worse it won't stay started and if it does it would die

we managed to bring it to that man but he wasn't home we don't have his phone number which we should have gotten it

My suggestion was to bring it to a professional mechanic and have them look at it and at least tell me what's wrong and we'll go from there but that would be towing involved

but does any of you know what's going on with my car? I would appreciate your help

Thanks Margaret

It's probably either a loose vacuum hose or a bad idle air control valve.

Go look for anything unplugged under the hood.
