FS: M-416 Camper / Trailer on Ebay

Well, I'm biting the bullet and selling my excellent little trailer. All the info is there are EBay. Hate to see it go because I put a lot of work into it, but I've got new ideas and another trailer so...on to the next!

Does eBay allow you to not follow through on a completed auction if the bid amounts are not to your liking and you haven't used the reserve price option?

There are 6 pictures in the ad, or did something screw up?

I've done it before without issue, but I couldn't say what the concrete rule is. The way I see it from a buyer/seller standpoint it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other. As a buyer you wouldn't know what the reserve is, and as a buyer you don't know what the magic number in my head is either. Either way the buyer doesn't know. At least this way there is a little flexibility. If the buyer gets close enough to my magic number I might just go ahead and sell anyway and eBay gets paid. With a reserve it's cut and dried, as in close doesn't count, and there is no sale.

If a no reserve auction gets at least ONE bid, the seller is obligated to sell the item if the auction completes. Sellers are allowed to remove an item before the end of the auction.

Have a minimum in mind? Set a reserve, or make the first bid your minimum. I usually choose the former, as there seems to be some psychological advantage to having an opening bid of $5 or $10 bucks. The item will typically quickly get very close to a reasonable opening bid all by itself.

Personally, when I use a reserve, I state the reserve amount in the listing. I've never seen the logic of keeping it a secret. If my reserve is reasonable, people still bid. Items that I simply want to move are listed with no reserve and sold to the highest bidder.

eBay is an excellent market value indicator. If the value is low,

*someone* will usually bid the item up. Reserve is over market value? The item won't sell.

There are 6. You have to hit the play button to advance through the set

If there is NO reserve and a low starting bid its called fraud, if the seller refuses to sell the item for the high bid no matter what it is. If you want to reserve the right to cancel the auction if you don't get what you want then set a reserve.

I have already taken action against one person on Ebay, he refused to refund the $$ and admitted he sent the item to an unknown address .. He very quickly gave a full refund once the US POSTAL SERVICE informed him of his attempted mail fraud. (the means by which this item was to be sent).

Ok, I didn't even know that was there. With a dail-up i tend to avoid buttons and movies. I wouldn't use a feature like that for an auction, potential buyers may miss it.

There were 6, just not 6 in all the places I thought they were going to be. I've since modified it so all the photos show up in the correct places. To do it over, I wouldn't bother with the slide show feature. Turns out it wasn't quite what I thought it was.

That's a nice rig, Tom. You should do well with it. It's a bit far off for me though.

Thanks. I had a lot of fun with it but need to rethink my camping needs...for all the usual reasons. New wife, new dog, new kid. You know, all the standard annoying things in life that can really screw up a guys plans. :)
